ADELAIDE NATURE FESTIVAL EVENT
Nature Journaling Weekend Workshop / McLaren Vale
When: Saturday 6 - Sunday 7 October, 10.00 - 3.00
Where: Fleurieu Arthouse, 202 Main Rd, McLaren Vale SA 5171
Cost: $220 pp + BF Includes all materials needed to use in class and a take-home journal.
Bookings: Nature Festival
About the workshop:
For those familiar with personal journaling or keeping drawing sketchbooks, this 2-day workshop is a gentle way to combine creativity with a love of nature. Many different approaches to Nature Journaling will be discussed over the weekend including garden dairies, travel notebooks, plant studies and nature writing. The workshop includes a ‘mindful walk’around the grounds of Fleurieu Arthouse, and guided instruction from Tabatha to find your own style and voice.
Tabatha notes, “As children we are encouraged to be curious about our world. Most of us remember the joy of discovering things in nature for the first time, like seeing a bird or insect up close, finding a shell or bone in the sand, picking wild flowers or remembering the scent left on your skin after lying in the grass. Nature therapy is nothing new, but the language we use to describe these practices are. For centuries before our phones documented the minutiae of our lives in mere seconds, nature sketchbooks were used to record what we were seeing and feeling when out in nature.
This workshop is an opportunity to slow down, to observe, to reflect, collect and record what we see - alongside our thoughts. It’s not completely introspective, but rather an opportunity to look at the brilliance of the living world around us and find our place within it.”
All the materials you will need to use in class including your own take-home journal will be included in the course fee.
Suitable for ages 18+. Max. students 12.

2023 Workshop thanks!
It was a busy year with workshops held all over the country from way down south in Queenstown and Christchurch to Wellington, Taranaki and up to Auckland.
Thanks to all of my wonderful venues and a huge thanks to all my incredible students! It has been a pleasure working with you all this year. I will be running workshops in NZ a little less frequently in 2024 due to a new adventure in Adelaide, Australia, but please keep an eye out on my instagram @botanical.artclass and Facebook pages for any NZ updates.
