* Returning students from my previous Nature Journaling classes are elgibale for a discount code. Please contact: Suzanne
About the workshop:
The trees are bare, the flowers are spent, what is left to draw? While it may be true that Adelaide’s Autumn spectacle of delightful deciduous trees have left the stage, the botanical bones of the city remain firm – and there is plenty to look at once you learn to look closely!
Over the duration of the workshop we will explore what it is to keep a nature journal and how to find the style and techniques that work best for you through every season. Class demonstrations and gentle one-on-one guidance with different drawing and watercolour techniques, will introduce students to what Tabatha hopes will inspire a life-long practice.
Returning and beginner students welcome!
“Drawing from nature is the perfect antidote to our noisy and stressful lives. A chance to dip into another world, closer at hand and less cluttered and complicated. Your worries, momentarily at least, melt away on the page.”
– Dr T Forbes
All the materials you will need to use in class including your own take-home journal will be included in the course fee.
Suitable for ages 18+. Max. students 12.

ADELAIDE CENTRAL SCHOOL OF ART
Plants in Pen & Watercolour for Beginners
2-days (Saturdays)
When: Saturday 2 & Saturday 9 August 10.00 - 3.00
Where: ACSA 7 Mulberry Rd, Glenside, 5065
Cost: $295 pp Includes all materials needed to use in class and botanical specimens to work with.
Bookings: ACSA
About the workshop:
Drawing from simple plant specimens the workshop explores different pen drawing techniques such as stippling and cross hatch with ballpoint and ink. Stippling is a technical term – but is far from technical! It is simply drawing depth and shadow with stippled or dotted marks instead of lines. It’s a brilliant and easy-to-learn technique, strangely compelling and addictive. (See image examples of my stippled lemons).
The class will also look at light drawing for painting and include the basics of watercolour, using palette (dried) watercolour which is perfect for adding a quick touch of painted colour.
All materials and drawing subjects included in the course fee.
